MIRIAM RAKOWSKI: Today, I saw a peregrine falcon, I saw at least 300 ruddy ducks, a lesser scaup — the list goes on. [Laughs.]

RAKOWSKI: Birdwatching is a way to go into the park and live in the moment and forget about everything. You enjoy nature; you look at beautiful trees and flowers and birds, and it’s a wonderful way to just relax and be in the moment and be grateful for what we have.
RAKOWSKI: A good 30 years ago I had heard that the park rangers had a bird walk and took advantage of it. And it was so pleasant that I went back the following week and kept going back. Unbeknownst to me, the birds were seducing me.
